The Things That Keep Us Busy
Personal Growth & Reflection
Welcome.
I’ve thought about creating a space like this for a long time—a place where I could write freely, share what I’ve learned, talk about what I’m still learning, and have some of the honest conversations that have shaped my life.
I’m Waseme Marcelin. I’m a writer, singer, wife, mother, entrepreneur, and mental health advocate. I’m also a woman who has lived enough life to know that sometimes the greatest growth comes when we finally become willing to look at ourselves, our relationships, our choices, our faith, and even the things we’ve spent years trying not to look at.
Writing has given me a place to do that.
Over the years, I’ve experienced beautiful seasons and incredibly difficult ones. I’ve lived overseas, raised children, navigated marriage, walked through complicated relationships, gone to therapy, strengthened my faith, learned the necessity of boundaries, rediscovered parts of myself, and had to accept that sometimes becoming who you are meant to be requires leaving behind things—and even people—you once believed would always be part of your life.
I don’t have everything figured out, and I don’t intend to write as though I do.
What I do have are stories.
Some will make you laugh. Some may make you uncomfortable. Some are about things I wish had never happened, while others are about moments I wouldn’t trade for anything. And somewhere between all of those experiences are lessons that took me years, sometimes decades, to understand.
That is what I want this space to hold.
I’ll be sharing thoughts about faith, family, relationships, mental health, boundaries, personal growth, creativity, and the things we sometimes have to unlearn before we can move forward. I’ll also share more about my books, including The Things That Keep You Busy, and the stories behind why I wrote them.
More than anything, I want this to be a place for honest conversation.
There is something powerful about finally putting words to experiences we’ve carried quietly. Sometimes hearing someone else say, I’ve been there too, is enough to help us look at our own lives differently.
So, this is my introduction.
Not because I’m just beginning to have something to say, but because I’m finally making room to say it.
Welcome to my little corner of the internet.
Let’s talk about it.
Waseme
