About Waseme
Waseme Z. Marcelin is a writer, singer, storyteller, wife, and mother of three whose work is rooted in reflection, faith, family, personal growth, and the lessons that often become clearest in hindsight.
A Miami native, Waseme has lived and traveled around the world, experiences that have shaped both her perspective and her storytelling. Long before she began putting some of her most personal stories on the page, she found her voice through music. Singing has remained an important part of her life and ministry, but over the years, that voice has expanded beyond music and into writing.
Her work explores the complicated spaces between who we were, what we believed, what we endured, and who we become when we finally begin to see our lives differently.
Waseme is the author of In Hindsight, a reflective memoir about family, silence, relationships, faith, survival, and finding her voice, and The Things That Keep Us Busy, an exploration of the distractions we often mistake for responsibility, productivity, and even love.
Waseme is also the author and illustrator of the 2022 children’s book Victoria’s Adventures in Egypt, inspired by our family’s time living abroad. The story follows her daughter, Victoria, as she takes young readers along on her adventures in Egypt during our family’s time there as diplomats.
At the heart of her work is a simple belief: our stories do not have to remain buried simply because they are difficult to tell. Sometimes looking back is how we finally understand where we have been—and decide where we are going next.
